Angling on the River Shannon, Banagher
An angler's paradise awaits the visitor to Keeraun Hill Self Catering Holiday Cottages. The majestic River Shannon flows through Banagher. Throughout the Shannon's great length there are sizeable stocks of a wide variety of fish including salmon, trout, bream, tench, rudd, roach and perch in abundance.
From Shannonbridge at it's mid-point to it follows a slow flowing meandering course through the town of Banagher and the lush plains and gentle hills of North Tipperary on it's 50km journey to Portumna where it flows into the renowned Lough Derg,... Ireland's Pleasure Lake.
Banagher International Angling Festival 2006Banagher International Angling Festival is held annually at a number of well-known fishing hot spots on the River Shannon. The Spring Festival is scheduled for early May and the Autumn one in September. One of the best fishing spots is probably the "Town Stretch" which is located downstream of Banagher on the east bank of the River. It is one of the prime spots used for the Banagher Festival which is great for mixed fishing.
